Brunswick House

October 9, 2023 / Case Study / Healthcare

Gloucester-based Brunswick House is a 44-bed residential care home; one of eleven homes across the South of England and Isle of Wight that form the Buckland Care Group. Offering a range of care services, the home has a busy laundry, run by two dedicated team members. The facility experiences high levels of incontinence and therefore red bag laundry.

Brunswick House’s busy laundry was operating with two commercial washing machines that were over eight years old. The aged Miele and Electrolux machines had frequent breakdowns and the repair bill had spiralled over a five-month period. On a number of occasions, it had taken over a week to get an engineer to attend, during which time the team had to use an external laundrette for general laundry, whilst red bags built up. The problems caused by the unreliable washing machines were affecting the entire team and the residents.

On the recommendation of a manager at one of Buckland Care Group’s other homes, Brunswick’s Manager, Karen, contacted Wolf and explained the problem. One of our expert team visited Brunswick House to gain a full understanding of the site and the requirements of the laundry operation.

From the site visit we recommended washing machines that can process high volumes of laundry and offer greater productivity in terms of cycle speed. We also considered cost savings; specifying the latest energy efficient washing machines to counteract increasing electricity costs. Our team removed the old machines, which were beyond economical repair, and installed two replacements: a Schulthess proLine W80 and a W100. These are the latest commercial machines from the Swiss manufacturer, and boast the fastest washing programmes available, along with significant savings on electricity and water. Autodose pumps were also installed, to make the entire laundry operation as streamlined as possible. The Wolf technical team were on hand to give training and advice to the Brunswick House laundry team, and the laundry was back up and running to capacity for the first time in months.

The equipment was supplied as part of our all inclusive OneCare package. A single monthly payment covers the cost of equipment and installation and moving forward Brunswick House will receive all servicing and maintenance as part of the package. We offer OneCare customers an 8 hour response time and 7 day cover, with no parts, labour or callout charges. This is a major benefit to the Brunswick team after previously waiting up to a week for an engineer.

Wolf Laundry came recommended so I expected good things; they did not disappoint. From first contact the whole process was incredibly smooth and it was evident that I was dealing with an industry expert at every stage of the process. The team are knowledgeable, professional, and delivered everything that they promised, exactly when they said they would. The whole team is happy with the OneCare package as everyone now has peace of mind that we have the right support and out laundry is reliable and efficient. It looks great too!
